How it works

The bureau says it started Huntsville Restaurant Week in 2012 to bring publicity and business to restaurants in Huntsville and Madison County. It grew into a month in 2022, when the bureau added Culinary Month to cover all of August with hands-on classes, demos and special events with local chefs, bakers, brewers and mixologists.

Restaurants, bars, hotels and other businesses take part. Each one posts its own Restaurant Week special or Culinary Month event on the bureau’s menus and events page, and the list of participating businesses is updated through the month. There is no ticket: you visit and order.

The Rocket City Dish Pass

The Rocket City Dish Pass is the bureau’s free, mobile-friendly guide to the month. Nothing to download:

  • It lists every Restaurant Week special and Culinary Month event, with updates as they change.
  • You check in at participating businesses and events. Each check-in is an entry in a grand prize drawing.
  • A separate prize goes to the person with the most check-ins across the month.
  • The 2026 pass launched Aug. 1 and was active only during Culinary Month. No purchase is needed to enter.

The 2026 grand prize, valued at more than $1,600, included a two-night stay in the presidential suite at The Westin, a pasta-making class and tickets to the U.S. Space & Rocket Center and the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra.

Food Truck Fridays

Every Friday in August, food trucks serve breakfast and lunch at the Huntsville/Madison County Visitor Center, 500 Church St. NW. The trucks park on Microwave Dave Way, with parking across the street, and the Visitor Center is open to browse while you eat. The bureau posts that year’s truck lineup on the same page.

What to know

  • Specials vary by restaurant; check each one on the menus and events page before you go.
  • The list is subject to change, the bureau says; the Dish Pass carries the latest version.
  • Restaurants that want to join use the bureau’s partner toolkit.
