Kids’ Space, John Hunt Park. The city rebuilt the volunteer-built wooden playground and reopened it in September 2023 next to the new Get-A-Way Skatepark. It is designed for children of all ages and abilities, with an open layout, special surfacing, inclusive equipment and fencing, Parks and Recreation Director James Gossett said. Three themed areas run from “Early Huntsville” to the “Space Race” and “Future Exploration,” with a play cabin, sky bridge, ropes course, embankment slide and a rocket slide. Parking, shade, seating and renovated restrooms are on site, the city said. Kids’ Space and the skatepark stayed open on the city’s 2026 holidays.
